Dal 28 giugno 2007 i cittadini italiani iscritti in AIRE possono presentare domanda di carta di identità al Consolato.
La domanda si puo' fare anche per posta, allegando la fotocopia di un documento di identità.

PASSAPORTO ELETTRONICO: LO RILASCIANO DAL 26 OTTOBRE 2006 GLI UFFICI CONSOLARI ITALIANI ALL'ESTERO E LE QUESTURE
Dal 26 ottobre 2006 gli Uffici Consolari italiani all'estero e le Questure rilasciano un nuovo modello di passaporto, di tipo elettronico, utilizzando più moderne tecnologie che offriranno standard più elevati di sicurezza. Il passaporto elettronico è dotato di particolari caratteristiche di stampa anticontraffazione e di un microprocessore che consente la registrazione dei dati, certificati elettronicamente, riguardanti il titolare del documento e l'Autorità che lo ha rilasciato.
Il costo del nuovo passaporto, in ragione della sofisticata tecnologia utilizzata, è stato fissato da un decreto emanato, in data 9 maggio 2006, dal Ministero dell'Economia: in euro 44,66 per il libretto con 32 pagine ed in euro 45,62 per quello di 48. La tassa annuale di concessione governativa rimane invariata.
L'emissione del nuovo documento di viaggio, previsto da un impegno comune europeo, consente di continuare a beneficiare del Visa Waiver Program che autorizza l'ingresso negli Stati Uniti od il transito nei suoi aeroporti senza necessità di visto.
Dal 26 ottobre 2006 potranno infatti entrare o transitare negli Stati Uniti in esenzione di visto solo i titolari di passaporto elettronico, di passaporto con foto digitale rilasciato prima del 26 ottobre 2006, o di passaporto a lettura ottica rilasciato o rinnovato prima del 26 ottobre 2005.
Si ricorda che i figli minori potranno beneficare del Visa Waiver Program solo se dotati di un passaporto individuale, non essendo sufficiente l'iscrizione sul passaporto di uno dei genitori.

CONSULTA PER L'EMIGRAZIONE
Le Consulte per l'emigrazione, sono state istituite con legge regionale, al fine di promuovere iniziative a tutela dei lavoratori emigrati e delle loro famiglie ed attuare forme di solidarietà volte a rinsaldare i rapporti tra i lavoratori emigrati e la regione di provenienza.
Sono istituite con decreto del Presidente della Giunta regionale, e sono presiedute dal Presidente della Giunta Regionale - che ha la delega per l'emigrazione - e che rappresenta le associazioni, gli Enti e gli organismi che si occupano a livello nazionale ed internazionale dell’ emigrazione. Ogni Consulta si riunisce circa ogni due mesi ed esaminate le istanze e le richieste di intervento dell'Amministrazione regionale in materia di emigrazione, esprime il suo parere in merito alla fattibilità o meno dell'iniziativa per la quale, nella maggior parte dei casi, si provvederà ad erogare un finanziamento.
Ogni Regione ha la propria Consulta Regionale che puo’ concedere benefici ai lavoratori emigrati all'estero e alle loro famiglie, che versino in disagiate condizioni economiche e che intendano rientrare definitivamente nella regione.
In aggiunta, la Consulta puo’ concedere contributi in conto capitale e per pagamento di interessi su mutui a lavoratori emigrati, singoli od associati, che intendono avviare attività artigianali agricole o turistiche.

NATIONAL INSURANCE FOR PEOPLE COMING TO THE UK

When you come to work in the UK you have to register for a National Insurance number and immediately start paying National Insurance contributions in the UK on the same basis as other people who normally live and work here.
If you are employed by a UK employer or are attached or seconded to a host business or client business in the UK, that business will operate National Insurance by deducting Class 1 employee’s National Insurance from your pay.
If you have a foreign employer and there is no other business in the UK responsible for operating National Insurance, you will be required to pay Class 1 employee National Insurance directly to HM Revenue & Customs. You should contact your local HM Revenue & Customs office and ask about opening a Direct Payment scheme.
There are some limited exemptions from National Insurance that operate for certain employees and self employed people coming to live and work temporarily in the UK.
Coming to the UK from European Economic Area Countries
– There are special rules if you are coming to the UK from:
Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Gibraltar, Greece, Iceland, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, The Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Republic of Ireland, Spain, Sweden, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Slovakia and Slovenia. Switzerland is not in the EEA but applies most of the same rules.
If you come to the UK with a certificate E101 or E102 from one of these countries showing that you are exempt under the special rules, you will be exempt from National Insurance until the certificate expires.
These certificates are most commonly issued where a person works in one country and then is sent by their foreign employer to work in the UK for a time.
If you are in business for yourself in your home country and you are self-employed in the UK, you may be able to qualify for an E101 or E102.
The country where you are normally in business will advise you whether you can be issued with an E101 or E102.
European Economic Area rules mean that if you do not hold an E101 or E102 you will be required to register for a National Insurance number and pay National Insurance contributions on the same basis as a person who normally lives and works here.

The European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) allows you to access state-provided healthcare in all European Economic Area (EEA) countries and Switzerland at a reduced cost or sometimes free of charge.
Everyone who is resident in the UK should have one and carry it with them when travelling abroad. Remember to check your EHIC is still valid before you travel. Applying for the card is free and it's valid for up to five years.
Presenting the EHIC entitles you to treatment that may become necessary during your trip, but doesn't allow you to go abroad specifically to receive medical care. However, maternity care, renal dialysis and managing the symptoms of pre-existing or chronic conditions that arise while abroad are all covered by the EHIC.
Your EHIC will allow you access to the same state-provided healthcare as a resident of the country you are visiting. However, many countries expect the patient to pay towards their treatment, and even with an EHIC, you might be expected to do the same. You may be able to seek reimbursement for this cost when you are back in the UK if you are not able to do so in the other country.
